Pier Update

Event Start Date: 2023/06/08

2023/06/08

Over the past seven days, the water temperature has hovered between 76 and 80 degrees. The clarity has been great and plenty of bait have been concentrated around the pier. Tarpon schools are passing regularly but they have not been willing to eat yet. The Bonita were very active most mornings at daylight. A few small King Mackerel, Spanish and a Red Drum were caught along with Hardtails. Cigar minnows and Spanish Sardine have been thick.

King Mackerel action continues to be slow with only small fish being caught. They have ranged up to about 14 pounds but mostly just legal size. Natural bait has worked best until this afternoon when several were caught on lures. Here are a couple of fish that Brandon and Cole decked Tuesday:

Not many anglers have had much success with Red Drum lately but Gary put in the time and manages a slot fish Thursday.

The Bonita bite has been fast and furious if you got to the pier before daylight. The bite began as sunrise happened and lasted for a small window of time. Numerous fish sere decked.
